Overcome Stomach Bloating With Maintaining the Health of Natural Digestive Enzymes

Enzymes are a type of protein in cells that accelerate chemical reactions in the body. The role of enzymes in the process of digestion is very important, namely to help break down food molecules into smaller particles to be easily absorbed by the body.

Enzymes are produced by the body naturally, i.e. in the stomach, pancreas, and small intestine. In addition, enzymes can also be produced in the salivary glands when chewing food. However, certain health and dietary conditions can lead to a lack of digestive enzyme levels and quality in the body, which can lead to complaints of flatulence.

Enzymes are needed by various functions of the body, including in the process of digestion, from the mouth (saliva), stomach, to the intestines. In general, there are three main types of digestive enzymes, including:

1. The amylase enzyme produced in the salivary glands, pancreas, and small intestine. This enzyme has a function in breaking carbohydrates into sugars, then absorbed into the body through the walls of the small intestine.

2. Protease enzyme that serves to break the protein into amino acids. This enzyme is produced in the stomach, pancreas, and small intestine. Most of the chemical reactions of this enzyme occur in the stomach and small intestine.

3. Lipase enzyme that works in breaking down fats and oils, then turning them into glycerol and fatty acids. Although lipase enzymes are produced in the pancreas and small intestine, they are also found in breast milk to help babies digest lipid molecules more easily when breastfeeding.

There are certain conditions that make the enzyme less functioning properly, usually when your body temperature increases or when you have a fever. In addition, it could also be due to health problems that inhibit the production and effectiveness of digestive enzymes, such as pancreatic disorders (e.g. critical pancreas, pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, and pancreatic cancer), cystic fibrosis, or certain food or beverage intolerance (e.g. lactose intolerance).

In these conditions, the body does not have enough digestive enzymes to be able to process food or drink intake, thus triggering indigestion, and often leads to flatulence complaints.

In addition to being produced naturally by the body, digestive enzymes can also be obtained from foods such as fruits and vegetables. For example, bananas contain digestive enzyme amylase, which helps the body's natural enzyme work. Therefore, choose a type of foods rich in digestive enzymes to help the health of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as to overcome flatulence.

In addition to bananas, there are also several types of natural ingredients that are considered to have benefits for the health of digestive enzymes, and can help overcome the problem of flatulence, among them are:

1. Ginger is often used to help relieve colds and cramps. However, ginger is also believed to contain enzymes that help the absorption of proteins, thereby reducing bloating due to the gas that comes after consuming the protein.

2. Turmeric is known to have many health benefits are also often used to treat digestive complaints, including overcoming flatulence.

3. Pineapple fruit also became one of the known fruits rich in bromelain content, which is an enzyme that helps digest proteins and often used as a drug content to reduce complaints of bloating.

In addition, the content of peppermint and liquorices, also believed to have benefits to help overcome digestive disorders, such as heartburn, which often leads to a decrease in the quality of digestive enzymes and cause complaints of bloating.

These ingredients are still being studied for its benefits to the health of the gastrointestinal tract, but are generally safe for consumption. There are even drugs or supplements that contain various natural ingredients, to take advantage for digestive health.

Enzymes have an important role in the digestive process. Therefore, the disturbance of digestive enzymes will lead to complaints of bloating caused by food that is not digested properly. It is recommended to adjust the diet to prevent flatulence, and eat foods that contain lots of enzymes when the body suffers from an enzyme deficiency. Consumption of enzyme supplements should be done in consultation with a doctor, including the type of product and dose.
